In today’s world of digitized communication when chalk and talk method is considered obsolete and ineffective, you need to possess a great command over presentation tools like Microsoft Power Point, Apple Keynote, Open Office Impress etc. These visual aids will reinforce your verbal communication and ensure that your message has clarity and impact. Audio and visual aids are complementary to each other. One cannot sustain without the support of the other. If you have an upcoming event that requires multimedia presentation you can approach audio video rental firms to get some good equipment that can make your event a success. But software is also playing an increasingly important role in the audio visual field.

Hurdles in Preserving Slide Shows

Although, you can make a great presentation by getting high end equipment from an audio video rental company, but one major drawback of a simple presentation is that you cannot preserve it in an audio visual format. If someone from the audience needs to revert back to the presentation for clarification of doubts or if someone who has missed the presentation wants to catch up with it, the presentation slides will not tell him the whole story. Though the slides are great for crisp and clear information they lack important details. Even if you have recorded the lecture in an audio file, it will not correspond with the slides. The process of relating your slides manually with the lecture can get too cumbersome. Again, if you record the whole lecture in video format, the quality will be compromised. The slides will be illegible unless the camera is placed next to the screen.

Use Audio-Visual Software

Here is where some new audio visual software products come in the picture. These products use PDF files and audio clips to create Shockwave Flash presentation. All you need to play this file is a web browser enabled with flash player. To begin with, you have to combine the sound and slides. It should be followed by marking the points where the slides should change. This ensures that when someone is watching the presentation, he need not change the slides manually. To mark the places where it should change a slide, just click the ‘next’ button. Once the points are marked you have to add a tab for slide show.

The file can be saved in two different ways: pdf2swf and GhostScript. The first one is remarkable for its quality though at times it gets very complex. GhostScript, on the other hand, is always easy to work with since it never fails. However, it compromises on quality when you use it. You can also save slides in JPEG format.

These software also have a couple of interactive options like preventing automatic starting of presentation, hiding all interactive tabs when the slide show is running or introducing "Play Again" button. Once you have selected all these options, you can click ‘Forward’ button. It will extract each page from original PDF, convert the audio file into WAV format and incorporate it into your SWF presentation.

You can use this file if you ever need to revisit the presentation in future. Some audio video rental companies also offer these software products that you can use along with their equipment.
